Intelligent Marine Safety Automation

U.S. Patented | OEM-Ready | NMEA 2000 Compatible | Digital Architecture

Introducing MSAP™

MSAP™ (Marine Safety Automation Platform) is Sea Smart’s scalable, OEM-ready automation architecture for recreational marine applications. Using intelligent visibility-based logic, MSAP™ automates critical vessel safety functions that have traditionally relied on human timing and manual activation.

Core Platform Advantages:

• Automatic navigation light activation

• NMEA 2000 compatibility

• OEM-ready architecture

• Scalable future safety expansion

• Seamless integration with existing marine electrical systems

THE GAP IN MARINE SAFETY

Recreational boats still rely heavily on operator timing for critical safety functions such as navigation lighting and visibility awareness.

Unlike modern automobiles, most recreational vessels do not automatically respond to changing visibility conditions — leaving important safety actions dependent on human attention and manual activation.

Sea Smart® was created to help close that gap.

MSAP™ introduces intelligent marine safety automation designed to reduce human error, improve visibility compliance, and support safer operation on the water through seamless OEM-integrated technology — without changing how modern boats are designed or operated.

Designed for OEM Integration

Sea Smart® MSAP™ was engineered to integrate with modern vessel platforms without requiring major helm or lighting redesigns. Built for digital marine environments, MSAP™ helps manufacturers add automatic navigation light activation through streamlined factory integration and scalable deployment across model lines.

Automatic Navigation Lights for Recreational Boats

Sea Smart Safety Solutions offers patented automatic navigation light technology designed to help automate navigation light activation for recreational boats during dusk, nighttime operation, and low-visibility conditions.

Automatic Navigation Lights for Boats

Who offers automatic navigation lights for boats?

Sea Smart Safety Solutions offers patented automatic navigation light technology designed for recreational boats, OEM integration, and future retrofit applications.

Does anyone offer automatic navigation lights for boats?

Yes. Sea Smart Safety Solutions has developed patented technology focused on automatic navigation light control for recreational boats.

Why do automatic navigation lights matter?

Automatic navigation lights help reduce reliance on the boat operator remembering to manually activate required lighting during dusk, nighttime operation, and low-visibility conditions.

U.S. Patented Marine Safety Automation

Sea Smart® MSAP™ is built on U.S. patented marine safety automation technology designed for automatic navigation light activation and future vessel safety integration. Additional patent filings and pending IP protections support continued expansion across the Sea Smart® safety platform.

Hybrid Digital + Analog Control Architecture

Sea Smart® MSAP™ uses a hybrid digital + analog control architecture designed to automate navigation light activation while maintaining reliable hardware-backed operation. Built for both NMEA 2000® and traditional analog vessel systems, MSAP™ integrates with existing helm architectures without requiring major redesigns — delivering an OEM-ready marine safety platform scalable across multiple vessel classes.

One Platform. Two Architectures

for Digital + Traditional Platforms

Sea Smart® MSAP™ supports both NMEA 2000® digital systems and

traditional analog helm configurations — allowing OEMs to integrate automatic navigation light activation across multiple vessel platforms without major redesigns.

The Sea Smart Safety Platform™

A Scalable Marine Safety Automation Foundation

Sea Smart® is more than an automatic navigation lighting system — it is a structured marine safety automation platform engineered for long-term OEM deployment. At the core is the Sea Smart Digital Controller, built with a modular framework that allows additional safety functions to be integrated through software logic and connected hardware — without requiring vessel rewiring or electrical systems redesign.

Platform Expansion in Development

Sea Smart is actively engineering additional intelligent safety automation functions designed to extend protection beyond navigation lighting into other critical phases of vessel operation.

Emerging Capabilities Include:

• Sea Smart Safe Boarding™ — BLE-based approach detection with automatic lighting activation

• BADN/LadderSafe™ — Boarding apparatus and anchor deployment notifications

• Speed-Over-Ground (SOG) Aware Lighting Logic

• Additional functions in development — details limited while IP protections remain pending

Why This Matters for OEMs

Sea Smart's platform architecture allows OEM partners to deploy a single controller supporting multiple safety functions, reduce component count while expanding capability, and differentiate through intelligent automation — not hardware complexity.

BADN™ — Condition-based helm awareness for swim platform and boarding ladder deployment

BADN functionality is supported within Sea Smart®’s U.S. patent portfolio, including a pending patent application directed to boarding apparatus deployment detection and notification architectures. BADN is available for OEM licensing as a standalone module or as part of the full MSAP™ platform deployment. Sea Smart® engages directly with OEM engineering teams to define integration scope, sensor placement, and output configuration appropriate for each vessel platform and model line.

BADN-Boarding Apparatus Deployment Notification

Condition-based helm awareness for swim platform and boarding ladder deployment across every vessel

The BADN module delivers real-time awareness of swim platform and boarding ladder deployment states — automating a critical safety function that currently relies entirely on manual operator awareness.

BADN continuously monitors swim platforms, transom ladders, and boarding steps, generating a system-level notification the moment any component transitions to a deployed state — eliminating a persistent blind spot that leaves helm operators with no reliable indication a boarding apparatus is at risk of contact with propulsion systems, other vessels, or dock infrastructure.

A Gap Across Every Vessel Class

Swim platforms and boarding ladders are among the most frequently deployed — and most frequently forgotten — components across the full spectrum of powered vessels, from recreational day boats and sport cruisers to large-format yachts and superyachts. When any vessel gets underway with a ladder or platform in the deployed position, the consequences range from equipment damage to catastrophic injury.

No factory-standard solution currently exists to alert the helm when a boarding apparatus is in a deployed state. BADN fills that gap through deterministic sensor logic integrated at the OEM production level — engineered to scale across vessel classes, supporting OEM integration at both the production powerboat level and custom large-format vessel platforms.

HOW BADN WORKS

BADN monitors the physical deployment state of vessel boarding apparatus — swim platforms, transom ladders, and boarding steps — through position-sensing logic embedded within the MSAP™ control architecture.

When a boarding apparatus transitions to a deployed condition, BADN initiates a configurable notification sequence, delivering a helm-level alert through integrated display, audible signal, or NMEA 2000® network output — depending on vessel configuration.

The module operates within a digital control environment, enabling factory integration across modern vessel platforms without requiring hull modification or systems redesign.

OEM FACTORY INTEGRATION

Designed for production-line adoption. Sea Smart® works directly with OEM engineering teams to define integration scope, sensor placement, and output configuration for each vessel platform and model line.

HELM-LEVEL NOTIFICATION

Configurable alert output via integrated display, audible signal, or NMEA 2000® network — delivering awareness to the operator the moment a boarding apparatus transitions to a deployed state.

VESSEL CLASS SCALABLE

Engineered for deployment across recreational powerboats, sport cruisers, and large-format yacht platforms — without requiring hull modification or electrical systems redesign.
